The Ultimate Fighting Championship heads to the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center in Shanghai, China, for UFC Fight Night 286. The card is anchored by a high-stakes bantamweight main event between elite contender Umar Nurmagomedov and China's own Song Yadong. The primary hurdle for Umar Nurmagomedov is dealing with the explosive power, heavy hands, and hostile road environment presented by the local fan favorite. The objective for Nurmagomedov centers on utilizing his suffocating Dagestani wrestling, smothering pressure, and kickboxing setup to dictate where the fight takes place. Concurrently, the mission for Song Yadong involves maintaining distance, defending takedowns effectively, and landing damaging counter-punches early to stop Nurmagomedov's forward momentum and earn a title shot in front of his home crowd.
