The two-time DTM champion secured his first victory of the season after capitalizing on mistakes and pit-lane drama from his rivals. First-Lap Chaos: A massive collision in the second corner knocked out primary championship contenders Maro Engel and Lucas Auer, along with Kelvin van der Linde, forcing all three to retire instantly. The double retirement of Maro Engel and Lucas Auer completely blew the 2026 title race wide open. Following his third-place finish, Thomas Preining closed the gap significantly and now sits just one point behind championship leader Engel.
