The primetime race on the 1.25-mile oval in Madison, Illinois, featured intense action and two red-flag periods due to track moisture. Despite Marcus Ericsson leading a race-high 114 laps, Newgarden surged ahead in the final stretch to take the checkered flag by 0.6613 seconds. Rookie Christian Rasmussen achieved a season-best finish to complete the podium
