Marc Marquez won the dramatic 2026 Japanese MotoGP Sprint race at the Mobility Resort Motegi on Saturday, 3 October 2026. The race concluded with significant post-race shuffle drama due to track-limit penalties. While championship leader Jorge Martin and Enea Bastianini crossed the finish line in second and third place, both were handed drop-one-position penalties for exceeding track limits on the final lap. This promoted Moto2-graduate rookie Diogo Moreira to a historic first-ever MotoGP Sprint podium. A major multi-rider collision on the opening lap saw Alex Marquez collide with KTM's Pedro Acosta, taking out both riders as well as Fabio Di Giannantonio.
